The loop tack, also referred to as initial adhesion, is defined as the force necessary to pull off a loop of adhesive tape immediately after contact with a standard surface.
A glued test strip is mounted in a loop with the adhesive side facing out. The testing machine places the loop on the test plate and, when it reaches a defined contact surface, removes it. This test is described in FINAT, PSTC, TLMI, ASTM and EN test standards.
